I watched a movie with a friend in Commerce Center one Friday afternoon, and we decided to have lunch at The Farm for a dose of healthy, organic eats before our movie.

I don’t usually frequent Commerce Center since it has very limited options for me to shop and dine, but my friend suggested we catch the movie Bad Moms there so off to Commerce Center we went.  I had heard that The Farm served healthy and organic food, so since I haven’t really tried a “healthy food place” before, I was interested to try it out.

Sayang it was a Friday. I read in some reviews that their brunch buffet gives good value for money.
The interiors were cozy and unassuming, though the place is quite small.  Definitely not a place for a big family who wants to sit together (and when I mean big family, I’m talking about mine where we can be 20-25 at a time).

There’s an introduction and history of The Farm and its founders on every table. Good thing, too, since I had to ask my friend, “Ano ba talaga ibig sabihin ng organic?”

From The Farm: Organic produce are grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, nor genetically modified. Livestock that produce meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy are free-range, and are not given antibiotics or growth hormones.

Thanks for the orientation and history tidbit. I learned something new!
What was disappointing though was there were so many unavailable items! Actually when we sat down, we were already told there were no soups and salads since “Hindi pa po nadedeliver”, according to our waiter.  Ok, so we didn’t choose soups and salads though we were honestly planning on those.

My friend decided on the steak, and I decided on the mushroom truffle pasta. We called the waiter over, and when we told him our choices, wala rin daw.  Wow. So I had to ask, “Ok Kuya, ano ba meron?” From what was available, my friend went with the roast beef plate and I decided on the roast chicken plate.

My roasted chicken plate. Breast part lang daw meron. Buti nalang yun talaga preference ko.
Truth be told, I wasn’t really very happy with my order. The chicken was a bit dry for my liking, though I could taste the herbs in the meat. The pandesal was dry, nothing special.  The parmesan mashed potatoes were ok, creamy without being overly cheesy. The best thing for me on this plate was the mushroom gravy, which I asked for a second helping of. Sabagay, medyo konti naman kasi ang serving. Hay. At least, healthy!

My friends roast beef plate. She was non-committal about her order too when I asked how it was.
Bad timing ba kami? I read a few reviews that said the food was good.   Or, could be that I’m really just not used to organic food.

So, would I come back to The Farm for another meal? If I ever find myself looking to eat an organic meal in Commerce Center, maybe.
